An artificial <a href=Christmas tree.” width=”300″ height=”375″ />
Image via Wikipedia

Although Christmas is not traditionally celebrated in China, in Western Feng Shui Christmas is a time of sheng qi (good luck) and a Christmas Tree is a perfect attractor of luck especially when decorated to reflect the balance of the five Feng Shui elements, fire, wood, water, earth and metal.

A real or artificial Christmas tree strongly represents the wood element. The seasonal colours of green (wood element) and red (fire element) with additional fire element being provided by any electrical lights are well balanced by the abundant wood that is fuelling the fire element.

Elements

  • Earth: wood uproots earth but is supported by fire. Productive decorations: Square and rectangular shapes, ceramic ornaments, yellow and red lights, and red accents. Avoid using tinsel and white lights because it will further deplete earth. Earth damns water so keep tree well watered and/or use blue ornaments and lights.

  • Metal: metal “chops” wood in the productive cycle but an excess of wood dulls metal. Supporting decorations are white lights, tinsel, metallic ornaments and a silver or gold brocade tree skirt. Productive decorations are fake snow and icicle shapes.

  • Water: Metal produces water but wood takes up water. Supportive: avoid draining the water element by ensuring the tree is kept well watered and refreshed each day and if it is an imitation tree decorate it with wavy, icicle shapes and blue decorations, lights or tree skirt to balance water energy. Productive: use white, silver, gold, circular, ball shaped or domed metallic ornaments.

  • Wood: Supportive decorations are blue ornaments, fake snow and wavy or plastic or glass icicle shapes to water the wood and lessen the fire.

  • Fire: Supportive decorations are plastic or glass wavy or icicle shaped ornaments and fake snow to water the wood and lessen the fire and reduce the excess earth. Fire melts metal so use lots of tinsel and metallic ornaments.

Peace, happiness and harmony to you all for the festive season.

children
It could be said that since it was the birth of a baby as a gift to mankind that gave rise to Christmas, then children should also and always be the primary focus of the season. Individual families will say they have always put children first and parents will sacrifice seeking their desires at Christmas to make sure their children are satisfied. And although adults also look forward with much anticipation to the Christmas season, the frenzy that accounts for all the shopping and preparation during the Christmas season is really for the benefit of children.

From a financial perspective, the extensive shopping done at Christmas is really of benefit to businesses. But what really drives the maddening shopping activity is a desire by parents, relatives, friends and acquaintances to play Santa Claus, mainly for children. Within families, children are usually the ones who individually receive the most gifts. And it’s deservedly so because their wide-eyed anticipation, excitement and pure joy when they open their Christmas presents gives everyone an indescribably happy feeling.
